About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is among the oldest healing practices in the world. It is based on the concept of Ying-Yang and the balance of Qi (energy) throughout the body. Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points on the body by a variety of techniques, including the insertion of thin metal needles through the skin. It is intended to remove blockages in the flow of energy and restore and maintain health. Many practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. This stimulation appears to boost the activity of your body's natural painkillers and increase blood flow.
Who is acupuncture for?
Acupuncture seems to be useful as a stand alone tratment for some conditions, but it's also increasingly being used in conjunction with more conventional Western medical treatments.
